Job Description
We are currently seeking an artist mentor for our 2023 camp session and school-year program. This person will head the Songwriting component of the Jeanine Tesori Authorship Residency Program. The position requires someone who is comfortable working with children/beginners, and who has a heart for mentorship. Our mission is not to create professional artists, per se, but we interact with art and study it as a way of developing and reinforcing leadership skills. Additionally, it's worth noting that our network of creative team members runs deep, so this work often begets collaboration outside of ABW, as well.
Piano skills are required, including improvisation, along with a broad knowledge of musical genres ranging from Musical Theatre to R&B/Soul. Composing/orchestration abilities are necessary, as well.
Camp this year is from July 23 through August 4. The Songwriting mentor would be needed for camp and for a handful of rehearsals preceding our Fall Authorship Concert in October (date TBD).
