Synopsis

By the Breath of Southern Fire is a trio of one-act musicals focusing on a group of fantasy novel fans. These college and just-post-college students have all bonded with each other over the Sissy S. Pitchfork novel Mississippi Dragons. In the first act, we follow a small group of die-hard fans who help a non-nerd find confidence among the nerdy. In the second act, we see a bigger group of fans that has started their own book club with the hopes of getting Sissy to come speak at one of their meetings. And finally, we see both groups attend Comic Con together with a musical they've written to perform for Sissy. When they ultimately meet her (dressed as Dragons, Goose Goblins, and Evil Trouts), they learn why the phrase, "never meet your heroes" is a thing. It's silly! It's nerdy! And as Vicki the Vicksburg Spiketail Dragon would say in the book, "yee-haw!"
