Biography
Yazmeen Mayes is a composer and playwright from Georgia who studied music composition at Kennesaw State University. She is a proud alum of the Maestra Mentorship (2022), 24 Hour Plays: Nationals (2021), the Kennedy Center Playwriting Intensive (2021), Horizon Theatre's New South Young Playwrights Fesitval (2021), and the Broadway Official Online Masterclass (2020). In 2024, she qualified as a semi-finalist for Syracuse University's New Works/ New Voices Initiative. Recently, Yazmeen's music was featured in Camille Thomas' one woman show, Parent Plus Loans and 54 Below's Heart & Music: Songs from Rising Queer Composers. Currently, she sings with the Lawrenceville Symphony Orchestra at the Aurora Theatre and stage manages for Live Arts Theatre. In her free time, Yazmeen runs a free, improvisational singing workshop called Singing with Strangers. It's like recess, but for your voice.
