Theresa Helen Edwards

Biography

I am a grad student in the musical theatre writing program at New York University. I recently graduated with an honors Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Delaware with a major in music composition and minor in music management.

As a composer, my work has been featured in the Still Breathing Concert Series and Women in Music Concert. As a leader in the vibrant college theatre community in Newark, I spent the past 4 years serving in numerous capacities with E-52 Student Theatre as director, stage manager, set designer, composer, publicity coordinator, in addition to E-52’s board secretary and rising Vice President.

In addition to my educational and professional work noted above, I am an avid playwright and composer. My personal projects include a historically accurate, but artistically diverse musical about the Renaissance sculptor, Michelangelo, titled “Michelangelo the Renaissance Musical”. With the help of 20 other musicians and performers, I was able to put on a cabaret of several of the works from this musical in October. Through my work, I hope to recreate history and tell it in a way that modern audiences can readily access, enjoy, and understand.
