Biography

Tali Duckworth is a current student at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music and studying with Jennifer Marotta and Tom Hooten.

At USC, Tali is a member of Thornton Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. Tali is a returning member of Thornton Edge, Student Symphony Orchestra and Concert Jazz Orchestra.

Chamber music has also been at the heart of Tali's education. Tali performs in brass quintet with her fellow Thornton students and receives coachings from Doug Tournquist. Tali is a member of the USC trumpet quintet and this group was awarded first prize at the 2023 National Trumpet Competition in the small ensemble division.

Tali has also discovered a love for pit orchestra. She made her debut playing the USC School of Dramatic Arts production of A Chorus Line in the spring of 2022. Since then she has played solo trumpet on SDA's production of Into the Woods and has played the trumpet books for Something Rotten and She Loves Me. This summer Tali was in residency with the College Light Opera Company in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The company puts on 9 shows in 9 weeks from June to August. Shows for the 2023 season include: Hello Dolly, H.M.S. Pinafore, 9 to 5, The Music Man, The Merry Widow, The Little Mermaid, The Yeomen of the Guard, Jesus Christ Superstar and Singin' in the Rain. Tali was has traveled the country doing what she loves. In May 2022 Tali competed at the International Women in Brass Conference in Dallas, TX. Upon her return from Texas, Tali started her internship with this Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Here she attended rehearsals and did research for the orchestra on how symphonies can attract a younger audience. Later that summer, Tali traveled to New York City where she attended the NYU Summer Brass Workshop studying with Wayne DuMaine and the Manhattan Brass. From NY to WA, Tali spent the next two weeks with the Marrowstone Music Festival working with Seattle Symphony Musicians and playing principal trumpet with the orchestra.

She has been a member of the Indianapolis Youth Orchestra, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Marrowstone Music Festival Symphony Orchestra, All State Honor Band, Lutheran Summer Music and the Interlochen Arts Camp.
