Sylvia Blair

Biography

Sylvia Blair is an interdisciplinary creator based in NYC. Since graduating from the Gallatin School at NYU, she has built a multifaceted career in composition and performance. Most recently, she wrote, produced, and performed in “The Blueprint: A DNA Musical” at The Tank Theater. Sylvia is also often performing solo concerts of her original music in venues around the city such as Mercury Lounge, Rockwood Music Hall, and The Delancey. Sylvia is interested in the intersections of art, music, and science, and built her academic concentration around performance studies, developmental psychology, and disability. In her work she is interested in exploring the pathways that make us who we are, the factors that disrupt these paths, and how the performing arts can be a road to healing and community repair.
