Susan Chen Xuan Li

Biography

Susan Li is a Canadian novelist, playwright, lyricist and librettist based in NYC. Her specialty includes comedy, fantasy and science fiction, and she has a passion for exploring a variety of different genres and expanding her repertoire. Her most recent play is News Break Masquerade (BMO Theatre Centre, Vancouver), a futuristic newsroom drama that explores politics and morality. She is currently writing the books and lyrics of an original full length dark fantasy musical, to be completed by 2024. While procrastinating on her creative projects, Susan enjoys visiting museums, trying out local restaurants and cafes, reading books and attempting to golf. Susan has a LLB from King’s College London, U.K., where she spent the majority of her time immersed in theatre and, in the words of her friends, “practically majored in musicals with a minor in law”. She is currently enrolled as a bookwriter/lyricist at the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
