Biography
Stephanie Tateiwa is a saxophonist, woodwind doubler, composer, and an educator from New York. She is currently the 2nd alto sax player with the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, touring all over the U.S. and sometimes internationally. She has completed a double major program in Jazz Saxophone and in Music Education from the Eastman School of Music under Charles Pillow and Chris Azzara. She will be attending NYU for her masters degree in Woodwind Doubling starting in 2025.
Stephanie has recorded her debut album, “Journey in Passion” in fall of 2023, funded by the Eastman’s Institute of Music Leadership. Besides the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Stephanie has played in
ensemble such as the Downbeat award-winning Dave Rivello Ensemble, the pit orchestra at the Rochester Geva Theatre, Jazz at Lincoln Center Youth Orchestra as the lead alto, NAfME All-National Honor Jazz Ensemble, All-State
Wind Ensemble, Jazz at Lincoln Center Summer Jazz Academy, BUTI Tanglewood Wind
Ensemble, and in Mannes Prep Philharmonic as the principal clarinet. Additionally, she enjoys teaching as she has worked in public school settings as band and general music teacher, as well as in local music schools teaching private lessons for multiple woodwinds and piano.
