Biography
Sophia Shedd is a dynamic freelance harpist based in New York City, known for her versatility across concert, theater, and film settings. She has performed with ensembles including the Norwalk Symphony, Virginia Symphony, Waynesboro Symphony, and the Martha Graham Dance Company, and has appeared in theatrical productions such as Sunday in the Park with George, Albert Herring, Cinderella, and Chronicle. Her work spans classical, contemporary, and collaborative genres, both as a soloist and ensemble player.
In the film industry, Sophia serves as a harp coach, on-set music supervisor, and hand double. Her recent work on Run Amok (2023), directed by Nitzan Mager, earned Oscar consideration and the Grand Jury Prize at the Boston International Film Festival. She continues her collaboration with Mager on the upcoming film Thoughts and Prayers.
Sophia also maintains a private teaching studio in NYC, offering harp and piano instruction with a focus on creative, student-centered learning.
