Sharon Ahn
Biography
Sharon Ahn is a songwriter/composer, performer, pianist, and music director pursuing a degree in Music at Yale University.
While their background is in classical piano (Manhattan School of Music Pre-College), they fell in love with musical theatre somewhere along the way. They started music directing shows in college and worked at Interlochen Arts Camp as a collaborative pianist in theatre the summer after their first year.
At Yale, Sharon is the music director and pianist of Just Add Water (Yale’s best, worst, and only musical improv comedy group), where the members improvise in different genres and end each show with a 20-minute, fully-improvised Broadway-style musical.
Besides piano, their interests lie in playing other piano-like instruments such as carillon and organ, as well as in sound design and electronic music production. They also release music under the alias noremi as well as their instrumental project hyphenviii.
Sharon is currently taking (another) gap year to tour and perform as a member of the country's oldest collegiate a cappella group, the Yale Whiffenpoofs.
