Sarah Klein

Biography

Sarah Klein is an upright and electric bass player based in Brooklyn, NY. She currently subs on Six.

In 2025, she played with the national tour of Elf on it's first tour since being re-orchestrated for Broadway.

While in NYC, she pays symphonic repertoire with the New York Repertory Orchestra, jazz, country and bluegrass in bars and on barges around Brooklyn, and in theater pits in regional, summerstock, and community theaters around the northeast.

She plays with the Dirty Mother String Band, performing bawdy blues and jazz in the tradition of The Copulatin' Blues Review at haunts such as Rockwood (RIP), Jalopy, and Sunny's, as well as Everstill, an alt-rock band where she gets to use many pedals. She enjoys playing in intimate chamber groups, chaotic bars, cramped orchestral pits, and everything in between.

Sarah studied Bass Performance and Music Theory at the University of Florida under Kevin Casseday, performing at UF in the Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, and anywhere else with a need for some low notes (graduate composition recitals being a specialty). She performed several musicals with the School of Theater and Dance, as well as several operas. She performed masterworks and pops concerts with the Ocala Symphony Orchestra and ran and performed with a small trad jazz combo, The Tramp Collection.

She teaches upright bass and music theory from her sunny music room.
