Biography

Buoyed by a passion for popular American music genres and culture, Sarah Favinger strives to establish herself as a contemporary musician who focuses on the intersection of pop and classical music. Ms. Favinger has traveled much of the U.S. and Europe, performing and practicing bass—both upright and electric - and studying musicology. Her mentors and teachers include François Rabbath, Sandor Ostlund and Sam Cross. Several notable international experiences include performing in the 2018 Toronto Creative Music Lab, winning a position with the 2016 Jeune Philharmonie Franco-Allemand, and holding the double bass position for the 2014 Assisi Performing Arts Festival in Assisi, Italy. Stateside she has performed with the Dali String Quartet and with numerous regional orchestras, theater pits, and opera productions. As a vocalist she has performed with the Paris Choral Society and as a jazz soloist. Currently, headquartered in Brooklyn, NY, Ms. Favinger performs throughout the New York metropolitan area and Tri-State Region. Ms. Favinger's repertoire spans musical theater, new music, interdisciplinary ensemble performance and jazz, and she continues to research music of the 20th and 21st centuries.
