  • Biography

    Rebecca Nelsen, currently a senior at the Manhattan School of Music studying with Sherry Sylar, has been featured as the Principal Oboist of the MSM Philharmonia and Symphony Orchestras. In addition to orchestra, Rebecca’s chamber group was selected as a winner of the Fuchs Chamber Competition in 2022. She was featured as the principal oboist of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at the Vienna Summer Music Festival in 2023. Rebecca has performed with the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, LUX Symphony Orchestra, Centre Symphony Orchestra, Riverside Orchestra, and Greenwich Village Orchestra. She is currently a member of Westside Chamber Players. Rebecca is also an accomplished pianist and has won numerous piano competitions, including the Concert Festival International Competition, which garnered her performances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Most recently, Rebecca performed the English Horn solo in Dvorak 9 with the MSM Philharmonia Orchestra.
