Biography

My name is Nikolina Kovacevic. I was born, raised in Belgrade, the capital city of the country Serbia - where I still do live.
I started with my musical education when I was 8, at the school " Vladimir Djordjevic " in Belgrade, and I first played violin. I played in the music school orchestra for 6 years as a leader of the second violin section.
After I've finished elementary school, I switched to the piano - during high music school.
Parallel with piano, I also started to play harpsichord, renaissance types flutes, I enrolled in the opera singing lessons, and I started to play some of the Balkans traditional instruments:
* frula, kaval. gajde, etc...

During my high music school - I played in many school ensembles, and I also graduated high music school " Josip Slavenski " in Belgrade, at the section of music theory as a student of the generation.
In 2013 / 2014 I enrolled in the studies of conducting, at The Faculty of music art in Belgrade, in the class of one of the most prominent conductors from the Balkans area - professor and maestro Bojan Sudjic.
During my studies, as a student, I visited the United States of America three times * 2015, 2016. 2017 and I worked as an assistant at the choir " Community Sing " on the island Martha's Vineyard, East coast / MA.
As an assistant of the choir, but also, as a singer, I organized a concert of Serbian traditional music on the Martha's Vineyard island as an example of promotion of my country's culture and tradition.
I worked on several huge projects of contemporary music, in my country Serbia and I also worked as an assistant in Serbian most renowned choir " Serbian Jewish ​society " for two years, from 2014 - 2016.
As a conductor, I trained with the following conductors: Maestro Cristian Mandeal, Maestro Ronald Zollman, Maestro Benjamin Zander, Maestro Wolfgang Scheidt, etc...

As the youngest conductor,
I was a participant in “ Nino Rota Conducting Competition 2019. “ / Matera, Italy.

During 2020. I was an ambassador of my country Serbia at the international social-musical project
'' One Beat Balkans ", owned and realized by OneBeat organization from New York, supported and realized by American embassies from Serbia, Montenegro, and Kosovo.

* Currently, I work as a music teacher and I also work as a freelance conductor, based in Serbia but mostly on international projects.
