Biography

Nicole Alifante had a professional acting career in NYC in theater, regional theater, voice overs, commercials and TV. She was one of the original members of Transport Group with Artistic Director, Jack Cummings lll. She left the business in 2008 to stay home with her son and since then she has written over 100 songs of all genres, started a band, (The Wild Life -all original music) and founded and is the president of CURE-The Coalition For Understanding Racism Through Education which is a vehicle for her own education along with her community around systemic racism in America. Her new musical, MAYFLOWER AVENUE, A PLAY WITH SONGS (written with book writer, S.C. Stowe) just made the semi-finals in the NMTC at The Eugene O'Neill this past spring 2023. She is currently looking for a theater to partner in cultivating the work and taking it to the next level. Unlike many of the profoundly talented women in this directory, Nicole is not a trained musician and does not play an instrument. Nicole hears melodies and lyrics in her head (usually in tandem but not always) and finds intuitive and generous partners to draw out the compositions in her mind and arrange them making them into songs that tell many types of stories for many different projects. So, when Nicole refers to herself as a "theatrical composer" it means that she can partner in crafting melodies and lyrics over musical compositions and arrangements. She is a vocalist by nature with a deep understanding of music in the most raw and un-learned way. As of late, with her band and her musical, she is hearing supporters of her work say, "Where have you been?".....She has always been here and always will be here where she is called to be serving stories about the human condition and how we can heal together. Nicole is currently looking to bridge her nonprofit social justice work and performing arts skills to start a new career path in supporting a theatrical organization in imagining new ways of engaging communities in telling stories that build unity. Nicole has also taught a performing arts to kids of all ages in many schools. She created ACT - A Community Together which incorporates expression through movement, drama and music with Restorative Justice language. She lives in Westchester, NY with her husband, teenage son, also a musician and her dog Chet Baker.
