They/Them
Biography
Nic Schilling was born on October 5, 1996, in Buchen (Germany). After numerous relocations and a mostly self-taught musical education, they produced their first pop album 'Rise', at the age of 16.
At 17, Nic composed their first musical theater piece 'Laika', a youth musical. It was performed at the German School Budapest in 2014 under their direction. After graduating, Nic spent a year as a production assistant at the Palace of Arts (MüPa) in Budapest.
In 2021, Nic earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theater Science from the University of Bayreuth. Simultaneously, they obtained a Certificate in Choral Conducting at the University for protestant church music in Bayreuth. Since 2021, Nic has been pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Game Science.
Nic worked in numerous student productions as composer and musical director. Amongst others, they wrote and directed the play 'Scherben' (Shards), composed the musical 'Im Auge des Sturms' (In the eye of the storm), and led various student music theater productions. In 2019, Nic spent four months in Nicosia, Cyprus, as the Musical Assistant to Alex Panayi for the composition and premiere of the musical 'Το παιδί και το δέντρο' (The child and the tree).
Since starting the Master's program, they have been increasingly involved in adaptive music composition and production for video games, and they are currently leading the university choir 'Unichor Bayreuth', which consists of about 120 singers. In different collaborative projects, they have also worked as a composer and musical director with the university orchestra.
In early 2023, Nic founded the game development studios 'Cursed Creations' and 'Salzsammler Studios', working as a producer, composer and game designer for both companies. Both projects, 'Cursed Broom' and 'Salzsammler' received funding by the state of Bavaria.
