Natalie North

Natalie North

Natalie North is a percussionist, pianist, harpsichordist, organist, researcher, and composer based in NYC. From the age of 15, Natalie has been a freelance musician. After graduating from the University of Oregon with a BM in Percussion Performance and a BA in Music Theory, they now study and teach at New York University, Steinhardt. They are obtaining an MM in Percussion Studies and are working for NYU as an adjunct professor teaching snare drum lessons to non-major students. They are also a full time instructor of a percussion composition class.
Natalie has performed around the world, touring with the Oregon Ambassadors of Music Company and the University of Oregon Chamber Choir. They have also studied with world-renowned marimbist, Keiko Abe, in Setagaya, Tokyo. While in Oregon, Natalie has played with the Eugene Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Next, and Eugene Concert Choir. They were also the pit percussionist for the Elsinore Theater in Salem. Now based in NYC, they have performed a Frank Zappa marimba concerto with the NYU Percussion Ensemble. In February, they presented an original marimba solo at the “other content” art installation in Greenwich Village, and they were the pit percussionist for NYU’s production of Titanic. More recently, Natalie has performed at Bard College with the Chinese Ensemble and is a frequent performer with The Chelsea Symphony. At NYU, they have studied with Javier Diaz, Jonathan Haas, James Saporito, and Ted Sperling, working on a wide variety of styles, in hopes of becoming a percussion chairholder on-Broadway.
