Biography

Mary Grace is a pianist, vocal coach, and music director. She is currently Music Director/Conductor of the Pretty Woman: The Musical International Tour (Japan) and 2nd North American Tour. Previously: Keys 2 on the North American Tour of CATS. Most recently, she music directed the Southern regional premiere of Waitress at Theatre Baton Rouge. Over the last 12 years, she has served as rehearsal pianist and pit musician for many local musical theatre productions including 9 to 5, The Drowsy Chaperone, 25th Annual...Spelling Bee, and Sister Act (Theatre Baton Rouge), including Theatre Baton Rouge's 2018 production of Little Shop of Horrors (Keyboard 1) that won the Broadway World New Orleans Production of the Decade Award. Other credits include Anything Goes, Cinderella, and Mamma Mia! (MI). Mary Grace credits her ability to play in an array of styles to her experience growing up in Louisiana's diverse music culture.

As a vocal coach, she has worked with actors of all ages and experiences -- from professional actors who have gone on to book cruise ship and national tours contracts, to college and high school students, to community performers. With a background in classical piano training and collaborative piano, Mary Grace is comfortable working with singers in either style.

Outside of the theater, Mary Grace is the founder of Gumbo de Musique: The Cajun French Art Song Project, an award-winning initiative dedicated to the broader revitalization movement of the Cajun French language. She is 1/2 of the Barefoot Duo, a chamber group focused on recording and performing works for tuba and piano by underrepresented composers.
