Marialena DiFabbio

Biography

Marialena is a lyricist, composer, librettist and sound designer dedicated to lifting up forgotten voices of the past and present. She has developed work at the Weston Playhouse Artists Retreat, Redhouse Arts Center New Works Festival, NYMF, SheNYC Theater Festival, The Brick (NYC), Coho Theatre (Portland, OR), the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, and the Springworks Festival in Stratford, ON. She and collaborator Susannah Jones were 2019 Jonathan Larson Grant Finalists and 2020 O’Neill NMTC Semifinalists for their work on their musical Bisland & Bly. She sings with the NYC-based band Bears of Alaska, and is a member of the BMI Advanced Musical Theatre Writing Workshop.
