Makena Metz

Biography

Makena Metz is a Writer & Songwriter for the Page, Screen, and Stage. She loves to write about misfits, nerds, weirdos, and outcasts through speculative fiction and comedy. She has an MFA in Creative Writing and MA in English from Chapman University. Makena is a proud member of The Dramatist Guild, ASCAP, Women in Animation, Maestra Music, and the Society of Composers & Lyricists. This year Makena’s debut musical comedy EP “Songs For My Therapist” began dropping tracks (check them out on all streaming platforms)! In 2024, she was selected for the SCL’s LA music mentorship program. In the last few years, Makena participated in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriting Intensive and the Paramount/MTV Entertainment Group First Time Composers Program. Her songs have been featured on the Emmy winning Disney+ show Hamster & Gretel and she recently wrote music for Mickey Mouse Fun House. Makena is an alum of Sam Carner’s Musical Creators Institute Program and New Musical Inc’s CORE Curriculum for Musical Theatre Writing.
