Lisa Rafferty

Biography

Lisa Rafferty's first foray into lyric writing happened in 2023, on two songs as part of 13 in a concert performance at 54 Below based on her comedies about motherhood, 'MOMologues The Musical.' When not working with talented composers and lyricists for that show, Lisa also writes documentary plays about heroic and resilient women and men, including the world premiere of FINISH LINE, about the 2013 Boston Marathon, created with Joey Frangieh of Boston Theater Company. She was commissioned by the Associates of Boston Public Library to create a documentary play with music in honor of the 100th's anniversary of the 19th Amendment, 'ONWARD - Votes for Women, ' with composer and arranger Adam McDonald. Other documentary plays include 'SHE DID ALL THAT - Betty Ford: Speaking Out, Saving Lives' about the courageous and unforgettable First Lady - premiered in Boston in 2018 and in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2022. She is the producing director of the Elliot Norton Awards in Boston, and teaches theater at Bridgewater State Univeristy. Lisa is a proud member of The Dramatists Guild and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
