Biography
Lily Mamminga is a songwriter, singer, pianist, arranger, and aspiring music director from the suburbs of Chicago. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Musical Arts in Lyric Theatre at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Lily's musical experience includes pop vocal and jazz instrumental arranging, classical and contemporary vocal performance, piano accompaniment, and music assistant/assistant music director roles.
Lily's solo work as a songwriter earned her a spot in New York University's competitive Summer Songwriters Intensive in 2022, and in 2020 she released a single with collaborator Rachel Blahnik, where she is credited as a co-writer and the solo producer. She is a competent and creative Logic Pro user and also has experience with Ableton Live. Her vocal arrangements have been performed by Batavia High School's audition-based mixed acapella group Chromatics, which she also served as the Music Director for during the 2023-24 academic year. She has also arranged for big band ensembles as well as rhythm section and soloist pieces.
As a performer, Lily is trained in classical and contemporary vocal styles and has appeared as a soloist and ensemble member with Lyric Theatre @ Illinois. She is also a clarinet player, and has been heard with the Batavia High School Wind Symphony at the Illinois Music Educators Conference and Chicago's Symphony Center. She is a recipient of the National School Choral Award, and recently conducted the live band accompanying Batavia's competitive show choir, Swingsingers, in an award-winning season. Lily has served as the Assistant Music Director for The SpongeBob Musical (AMD and Ukulele), 42nd Street, and Mean Girls (AMD and Keys 3) and recently served as a Vocal Coach for Lyric Theatre @ Illinois' Carnaval.
Currently, Lily is the Music Director of Summer Camps at Marquee Youth Stage in St. Charles, Illinois, where she teaches short musical theatre pieces to elementary aged children and accompanies them for a Showcase once each session. Lily also currently serves as the co-moderator of Student Maestras.
