Lauren Kinane

Biography

Lauren Kinane is a Long Island based clarinetist and educator. As a clarinetist she has performed with the Atlantic Wind Symphony, Sound Symphony Orchestra, Pioneer Valley Symphony, the MezzoBlasto clarinet quartet, the UMass Amherst Faculty Winds, and the UMass Amherst Graduate Woodwind Quintet. Her playing can also be heard on the Massachusetts Chamber Players' album Frank Martin: Music for Winds. In 2015 Lauren and Dr. Andrew Seigel performed Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Trumpets in C major, arranged by Dr. Seigel for two E-flat clarinets, with the SUNY Fredonia Clarinet Ensemble.

As an educator, Lauren has taught a variety of students ranging in age from 11-60+, and ability from beginner-collegiate. She gained a wealth of experience teaching individual and group clarinet lessons as well as coaching various chamber groups as the clarinet studio teaching assistant at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Currently Lauren is the Manager of Special Projects at Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts, where a main focus of hers is recruiting for and developing the Music Department. She received her DMA '23 from Stony Brook University where she studied with Alan Kay. She also has earned her MM '18 from the University of Massachusetts with Romie de Guise-Langlois, and her BM '16 from SUNY Fredonia with Dr. Andrew Seigel.
