Kim Kilby

Biography

Kim Kilby is a composer, lyricist and playwright who obtained her Master of Arts in Creative Media & Technology at BerkleeNYC’s Writing and Design for Musical Theater program. Throughout her youth, she performed musical theater, light opera, opera, and plays on many prominent Atlanta stages (Alliance Theater, Fox Theater). She studied music composition and jazz vocal performance (Union College) and later performed as a singer-songwriter across upstate New York and Vermont.

Kim has been composing original music from childhood. Since delving into writing musical theater, she has collaborated on the Book, Music & Lyrics for Big Quarterly, an original hip-hop gospel musical continuing its developmental process (New York Theater Barn 2025 Choreography Lab, Drama Club Camp 2025, 2025 NAMT Recommended Musical). She is currently writing an independent folk rock musical, Just Outside, which explores the complex nature of Dobbs-era abortion rights, choice, and regret from the perspective of an abortion provider.
