Biography
Kayla is a classically trained mezzo-soprano and composer of Classical, Contemporary, Theatre, and Jewish music.
Kayla graduated with a BA in voice from the University of Connecticut, where she studied under bass-baritone Rod Nelman. At UConn she performed in opera theatre, Page to Stage Productions, Collegium Musicum, UConn Concert Choir, and UConntabile. During the pandemic she began producing virtual choirs for synagogues and churches in Connecticut. Most recently she arranged a choral version of "Tree of Life" by Jewish Bluegrass band, Nefesh Mountain. She currently performs with the Temple Shalom of Norwalk choir, Touro Synagogue Choir and band, Fourth Wave Treble Choir, and New Orleans Vocal Arts. Kayla has experience singing Choral music, Opera, Musical Theatre, Jewish liturgy, folk and country.
In addition to performing, Kayla writes Jewish music, folk, and musical theatre.
