Katy Faracy
Biography
Katy Faracy is a Manhattan based woodwind doubler and performs in pit orchestras and live music venues throughout NYC. She has performed numerous times at 54 Below and was a part of the Off Broadway revival “Sugar The Musical.” Katy has performed with The Princeton Symphony Orchestra, the Grammy-nominated Milwaukee Jazz Orchestra, acclaimed contemporary music ensemble Present Music, and The Broadway Tour of Chicago the Musical. She is a member and co-founder of the woodwind quartet Crimson Winds performing a range of classic medleys and new pieces. Katy is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she spent her time studying saxophone, clarinet, and flute, and discovered her love for musical theater.
Settled in New York City, Katy completed her master’s degree in woodwind doubling at Montclair State University, where she was on the extension division faculty, providing private lessons and chamber coaching. She also served as director of the Montclair State University Saxophone Ensemble. Katy has a passion for music education and teaches private lessons on all of her woodwind instruments.
Katy is a dedicated breakfast food and craft beer enthusiast.
