Julie is a New York City based trombonist performing commercial, musical theater, chamber music, new music and orchestral genres. Known for her innovative spirit and versatile performance, Julie can be heard on multiple video series with Producer and Audio Engineer S!lky Jones, performing with her brass quintet, subtle cheetah, by day and playing in the streets of NYC with New Heights Brass Band by night.
As a pit musician, Julie has performed various shows including Newsies, The Drowsy Chaperone, La Cage Aux Folles, Saturday Night Fever, Cabaret, Fiorello, Crazy for You, Mary Poppins, Secret Garden, The Wizard of Oz, A Chorus Line and Little Women in Concert. She has performed with the Cortland Repertory Theatre Company, Riverdale Y Music and the City Lyric Opera. Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, she has continued to participate in musical theater by recording video projects with Marc Sokolson Productions, Aliyah Danielle, and Quinten Garzon's weekly Musical Theater Video Series.
As a chamber musician, Julie performs regularly with her NYC brass quintet subtle cheetah. subtle cheetah's mission is to promote all genres of music while providing a platform for underrepresented voices to be heard. As a recipient of the Marin Alsop Family Foundation Grant in 2019, the ensemble performed their inaugural call for scores concert, premiering three new works for brass quintet written by female composers. Julie has also notably performed with eGALitarian (2021 CMA Ensemble Forward Grant Recipient), Ithaca Brass, and the Clarmont Trombone Quartet.
She holds a MM from the Manhattan School of Music and a BM from Ithaca College. Her primary instructors included Colin Williams, David Finlayson, Jeffery Gray and Dr. Harold Reynolds.
