Biography
Julia Ross (she/her/hers) is a DMV-based composer, educator, and music director. She currently works with Iris Music Project as a Musician-in-Residence at Charles E. Smith Life Communities (Rockville, MD) and Imagination Stage (Bethesda, MD) as a composer, music director, and teaching artist. She also runs her own private voice and piano studio and steps in as a substitute church pianist/choir director from time to time.
Born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina, Julia first fell in love with musical theatre in middle school. As a teenager, she was involved in numerous community theatre productions, finding a passion for new works development, music direction, and composing along the way. She is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and received a Bachelor of Professional Music, concentrating in Arts Administration, Musical Theatre Writing, and Contemporary Writing and Production, and a minor in Musical Theatre Conducting.
