Biography
Julia Jordan Kamanda is a musician, teaching artist, and composer for Common Ground, a new musical following immigrant teens as they navigate life in NYC during the 2019 ICE raids. She also wrote and composed the Musical Tales for Modern Minds storybook series. Her mission is to create musical experiences for families who are looking for a deeper connection - to themselves, to others, and to the world around them. Julia is the owner and creative director for the Young Musician Academy, a contemporary music mentoring program and performance platform based in Lancaster, PA. She splits her time between the United States and Sierra Leone working with her husband, award-winning filmmaker Ali Biko Sulaiman Kamanda, to establish a creative arts enrichment program at his Mamaland Children's Community in rural Sierra Leone.
