Biography

Jojo Yuen is a Hong Kong-Australian pianist currently in her third year studying a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Music at ANU, where she studies with Dr Edward Neeman and Dr Stephanie Neeman. She was awarded the Christel Larko Music Scholarship in 2023 and the Margaret Smiles Associate Musician Prize in both 2023 and 2024. In 2024, Jojo was selected as one of five Canberra Symphony Orchestra Kingsland Fellows, gaining valuable professional development opportunities with world-class musicians. She has also been a Wesley Music Scholar at Wesley Uniting Church since 2024, which has provided her with numerous performance opportunities.

Jojo's passion for chamber music was shaped by her participation in the Ameropa Chamber Music Festival in Prague in 2018 and 2019, and she sees it as a significant milestone in her music journey. Since then, she has become a dedicated chamber collaborator, performing regularly in ensembles such as the Songroads Ensemble under the guidance of Dr Anna McDonald and Malek Mohammadi Nejad. She has won prizes in piano competitions nationally and internationally, such as the Australian Concerto & Vocal Competition, the Queensland Piano Competition, and the Zhongsin International Music Competition. Most recently, her ensemble group won First Prize in the Friends of the School of Music Ensemble Prize in May.
