Jillian Hetherman
She/Her
Biography
Jillian Hetherman is a composer-lyricist, librettist, and theatre director. She is a recent graduate of Emerson College, earning her BA in Interdisciplinary Studies, Writing Musical Theatre and Film. Jillian is also a proud member of the Dramatists Guild.
Jillian specializes in satire and musical comedy. Her work centers on the state of women in the world and American society as seen in her musicals THE BALL GAME, MAJORITY RULES (Lyr. Ashley Guan, Comp. Charlene Tashnizi), SWEEPS (upcoming), as well as her senior thesis, “Drama Queens: An Examination of Female Characters: the Women Who Create Them, and the Men Who Sedate Them in the American Musical Theatre.“
Jillian believes in cultivating joy, fun, and excitement in the room, and it translates onstage. Her unorthodox method of casting former athletes in her musicals (what she refers to as the Bench to Broadway pipeline) has proved successful and fulfilling for all parties involved—welcoming a newcomer into theater is one of her favorite parts of the creative process.
