Jessie Ong
Biography
Jessie Ong is a freshman studying at the New York University percussion performance program. They've been playing drum kit for seven years and percussion for three; additionally, they play jazz and accompaniment piano.
With experience and aspirations in music directing for theater, they’ve played the percussion and drum kit parts for their high school including Songs for a New World, Godspell, Into the Woods, and most recently, A Chorus Line. In 2022, they advanced to the state level of the National Shakespeare Competition.
At Berklee College of Music’s 5-Week Aspire program on a full merit scholarship, they studied jazz drums and jazz piano earning top marks in all classes.
At New York University, they’ve studied with professors Jonathan Haas and Javier Diaz for private lessons. They are excited to continue their studies, and look forward to learning the most they can at school.
