Jen Herman
Biography
Violist/Violinist Jen Herman has concertized in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Africa and is currently based in New York City. She can be heard playing violin and viola in numerous Broadway shows including Wicked, Moulin Rouge, The Lion King, Camelot, Bad Cinderella, Phantom of the Opera, Dear Evan Hansen, Company, Caroline, or Change, Mean Girls, King Kong, My Fair Lady, Carousel, and has held chairs in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Broadway’s Sunset Boulevard starring Glenn Close, and City Center’s Encores run of Evita.
Often a guest principal violist for many local orchestras, Jen has performed with the American Ballet Theatre, American Symphony Orchestra, Flint, Lansing, Midland, Spoleto Festival USA, Princeton, Symphony in C, Glens Falls, Greater Brideport, and New Haven Symphony Orchestras.
A dedicated teacher, Jen co-founded the Clinton Hill Music School in 2012 and initiated a scholarship program to provide free music lessons to students in need. She is also a teaching artist who has worked with hundreds of NYC students and maintains a private piano/violin/viola studio specializing in teaching children as young as two.
