She/Her
Biography
Jacque Carnahan is a NYC-based actress, singer, writer, and producer originally hailing from sunny California. Jacque learned her first tap step (the Shuffle off to Buffalo!) at the age of three at her local YMCA. After performing in The Sound of Music at age nine, her heart was set on a career in the arts.
Jacque is currently writing music, lyrics, and book for the the new original musical TWIRL! with her co-writer Michael Radi. TWIRL! is a mother-daughter coming of age story set in the world of competitive baton twirling based loosely on Michael's family's history with the sport.
Jacque is a graduate of The Boston Conservatory with a BFA cum laude in Musical Theatre as well as Idyllwild Arts Academy. Jacque's theatre credits include performances Off-Broadway at the Irish Repertory Theatre and the York Theatre, the National Tour of Cinderella, and regional appearances at The Paper Mill Playhouse, Goodspeed Opera House, and Baltimore Center Stage.
Jacque has performed her one woman show at venues such as 54 Below, Green Room 42, and Symphony Space. Jacque has had the privilege of working with creative forces such as Stephen Schwartz, Joseph Stein, Mark Lamos and Christopher Gattelli. Jacque has shared the stage with Broadway stars Alice Ripley, Laura Osnes, and Donna Lynne Champlin.
Jacque is an avid educator. As the Founding Artistic Director of educational organization Believe NYC, she produces events for arts students from all over the United States including her annual Arts for Autism Broadway Benefit Concert which has raised over $400,000.
Outside of New York, Jacque loves to inspire young artists: she has returned to Idyllwild Arts Academy as a guest director and has enjoyed choreographing at McCarter Theatre at Princeton.
While writing cabaret shows and short stories has always been a big part of her life, TWIRL! marks Jacque's first time writing songs! Jacque is thrilled with this new journey and can't wait to see where it all goes!
