Biography
Guinevere "Gwenny" Govea is a multihyphenate writer, composer, and performer from Houston, Texas. Her most recent musical, Spells of the Sea, made its world premiere at Metro Theater Company in St. Louis, Missouri and will have an anticipated Off-Broadway run in 2024. Spells is also a recipient of the 2021 B. Iden Payne Award for Outstanding Original Script. When Guinevere isn’t writing, she performs, and received the 2022 award for Best Actress at the ATX Short Film Fest for her work in the film Summa Culpa Laude. With her art, Guinevere hopes to uplift and inspire others through whimsical, heartfelt, and occasionally spooky works. Guinevere holds a B.A. in Theatre and Dance as well as a Bachelor’s in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin.
