Biography
Gabi Gibboney (they/she) is a Puerto Rican musical theatre writer based in Brooklyn, NY. A graduate of NYU’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing MFA Program (Cycle 33), Gabi has worked for the past few years with collaborator Hannah Z. Morley (they/she) on their thesis show, Brace Yourself: A Musical Apocalypse. Since May 2024, Brace Yourself has had a staged reading through Theatre On The Verge’s 2025 New Musical Festival, a concert reading at The Tank’s 2024 Limefest, and has had songs featured in cabarets at Joe’s Pub, Breaking Sound, and 54 Below. Before living in the city, Gabi attended school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where they received a BS in Psychology and a BFA in Music. While working to receive their undergraduate degrees, Gabi worked extensively with different student theatre groups as a performer, music director, and pit instrumentalist. They also had two original musicals produced at UNC, one with Company Carolina (Onward, Chef Dominguez), and the other with UNC Pauper Players (Just Another Thompson Family Road Trip).
