Erin J. Reifler
She/Her
Biography
Erin J. Reifler (she/her) is a New York-based musical theater writer and musician. Originally from Evanston, IL, Erin received a B.A. with honors in Music from Brown University and an M.F.A from NYU's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program in Lyric and Book writing.
Her writing and work style have been described as rooted in a reverent irreverence for strength, through embracing her characters' vulnerabilities and weaknesses. Erin's music is influenced by the oldies and classic pop she grew up with.
Her theatrical work has been featured at the Goodspeed, NYMF, Green Room 42, Feinstein's 54 Below, and Two Rivers Theater. With collaborator Zonia Tsang, she is the bookwriter & lyricist of A PAIN IN THE NECK (Drama Club Camp, DRAFTS, Dramatist Guild Fellowship Finalist, Civilians R&D Group Finalist, Moxie Arts Incubator Finalist) and SONGS OF HOME (NMI Merit Award Winners, Civilians R&D Group Semi-Finalist). With her collaborator Kevin Renn, she is the composer of SHOWCASE: A REHEARSAL MUSICAL, which is slated to close Carpe Diem Theater’s first season in Fall 2026 and has been developed at universities across the country.
As a musician, Erin’s worked on numerous musicals on and off Broadway, the West End, and Asia, including THE GREAT GATSBY, SHUCKED, PARADISE SQUARE, and ORATORIO FOR LIVING THINGS, finding the transformation of a new show from first table read to the stage the most magical. She was the first music supervisor of the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's Music Theater Conference and has worked with artists such as Brandy Clark, Shane McAnally, Lea Salonga, Edie Falco, Peter Dinklage, and The National.
