Divya Maus
Biography
Divya Maus is a composer, lyricist, and performer whose work spans the spectrum of theatrical, contemporary, and choral music. Her songs have been performed by celebrated vocalists including Shoshana Bean, Carrie Manolakos, and Kirstin Maldonado (Pentatonix). The lead single ‘Salty Water’ (from debut album BIGGER) earned her a finalist placement in the Great American Song Contest and led to her opening for the Beach Boys in Los Angeles in 2014. Her choral compositions have premiered at the UNC Jazz Festival and at the Appel Room of New York City’s Lincoln Center. Most recently, Divya won a Lucille Lortel Award as an original cast member of Heather Christian's ORATORIO FOR LIVING THINGS.
Among Divya’s dramatic works are the new musical THE MOLLYHOUSE (book & lyrics by Richard Hanson), the children’s musical KALLADA (book & lyrics by Alex Koceja), and the new opera HYSTERIA (libretto by Divya, music by Molly Pease) incubated by Overtone Industries in Los Angeles. Most recently, she scored the play SAME, SAME, BUT DIFFERENT produced by the New York City Childrens Theatre. Divya’s choral suite Rain Cycle, commissioned by the LA Choral Lab premiered as an immersive sound installation in both LA’s Griffith Park and Denver’s Cheesman Park.
Divya is a proud alumna of the USC Thornton School of Music, and the NYU Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program.
