Davey Thatcher Maglione

Biography

David Thatcher Maglione, known by friends as “Davey”, composes music and songs for Theater, Film, TV, Orchestra, and Other Mixed Media. Originally from North Western, NJ, they are now based in New York City. David engages with the emotive influence of Music, Nature, Story, and Ancestry, centering their experience as a Queer-Nonbinary person in the modern world.

Their music has been heard at venues in NYC such as 54 Below, The Laurie Beechman, and The Duplex, to name a few. Select theater-writing projects include: Wendy’s Shadow (written with Tomas Ruiz, presented at NYMF - 2015, Hamilton Stage -2016, and Mac-Haydn Theatre - 2018), Martin and Meelo (book, music and lyrics, commissioned by Mac-Haydn - 2018), and The Most Incredible Thing (book, music and lyrics, commissioned by Mac-Haydn - 2019).

Most recently, Maglione was in residence in England at Brisons Veor, Cape Cornwall, and NDT Broadgate, developing a musical theater project entitled The Only Way Out. Their work has been developed at multiple stages including living room shares, table workshops, residencies, readings, concerts, commissions, and productions. Proud member of The Dramatists Guild and ASCAP. Training: BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Writing Workshop (2015). Alternatively, David just finished touring as the Accordionist for the Broadway tour of Fiddler on the Roof, has Accordion engagements throughout 2023, and will take work ranging from Copyist to Music Assistant to Accompanist to Conductor.
