Cleo Handler

Biography

Cleo Handler is an actor, writer, and lyricist in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from Yale, where she was selected as an O’Neill Playwriting Fellow, she studied acting with Bill Esper at the William Esper Studio, and musical theater writing in the Advanced BMI songwriting workshop. She has written several original plays, short films, and musicals, including “Glass Act” (Yale, NYC workshops), “From the Fire” (BMI, NYC Workshops), “Moon Party” (New York No Limits Festival ‘16, Williamsburg Independent Film Festival ‘16, Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival ‘17), “Out to Lunch“ (Film Shortage Daily Short Pick, NYWIFT Online Shorts Festival, Audience Awards Horror Festival ‘18), and the musical web series “Young Like Us“ (Best Web Series - Philadelphia First Glance Film Festival ’15, Audience Finalist - Austin Web Fest ’15), which is also available on dotstudioPRO and StreamNowTV. Additionally, she has assisted Terrence McNally on multiple productions ("And Away We Go," "Golden Age"), and recently recurred as Barbara in the acclaimed TNT drama “Public Morals” (Dir. Ed Burns).
