Cindy Zhang | Chundy Chang
Biography
Cindy Zhang (alias Chundy Chang) has never known life without music. She started piano at age 4 and violin at age 9, quickly picking violin as her favorite and playing in several orchestras while growing up in New Jersey. After graduating with a bachelor's in international affairs and economics from George Washington University, she immersed herself in the DMV's community scene.
Since then, Cindy has thrived as a for-hire violinist and violist across all genres and venues: Carnegie Hall as a soloist, Pie Shop DC as a guest artist for local doom metal band Torvus, various retirement homes, local neighborhood festivals, and weddings. She is the co-founder of cover band Moonscape Ensemble, specializing in music from anime and video games. Performance highlights in theater and opera include Paula Vogel's "Indecent" produced by the Endangered Species Theatre Project (Nov 2024-Dec 2024), "Into the Woods" produced by 2nd Star Productions (May-June 2025), and collaborations with L'Opera Comique Washington at the French Embassy.
