Biography

I was five years old when I started playing the violin after a particularly inspiring Dixie Chicks concert. Martie Maguire was up there shredding, playing her heart out on her fiddle, and I remember thinking, "I want to do that!" So, I began taking classical and bluegrass lessons. Seventeen years later, I've come full circle and become a fiddle player myself. Now, I'm a freelance/session musician and a songwriter, knowledgeable in many different genres of music including classical, bluegrass, Celtic, old time, rock, blues, and jazz.

I just graduated in Spring 2023 with a Bachelors' in violin performance as well as minors in both Print Journalism and The Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology. While I was in school, I collaborated with professional musicians and students (musicians, producers, songwriters and composers) in the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music and Tisch School of the Arts. Outside of NYU, I've played on several records by various singer-songwriters and bands in NYC and Nashville.

I have been teaching violin (fiddle) to children, and later adults, both one-on-one and in group class settings since I was a teenager myself. I work with each individual student, of any age, to find music that inspires them, and build the techniques necessary to play that music. Together we craft exercises and practice strategies to achieve our musical goals. Lessons in my studio include a strong emphasis on learning by ear, but also an introduction to music reading. I'm a certified violin teacher in both the Suzuki Method (Books 1-IV) and Mark O'Connor Method (Books I and II).
