Carolyn Anne Bacon

Biography

Carolyn Bacon is an actor and writer from Oregon, based in NYC. She earned her Neuroscience degree and worked in labs and hospitals before beginning her arts career. Bacon is interested in bringing women’s private conversations into the spotlight, talking about things women aren't supposed to talk about, and transforming stories we tell about survivors of violence and their relationships with abusive partners. She is also interested in projects that highlight women scientists and find intersections between science and art.

Selected Works:

HELEN OF TROY: A contemporary, sapphic folk/rock musical inspired by traditional Greek mythology, where Paris is a woman and Helen is married to an abusive husband. HELEN recently completed its first developmental workshop with Theatre 4 the People at IRT Theater.

LADYKILLER: A full length historical fantasy play inspired by folk tunes known as “murder ballads”, that follows the legend of a hidden Village for women escaping violence and a young woman’s quest to find her father’s killer.

MUSICOPHILIA: A song cycle in development inspired by Oliver Sacks award-winning book about unusual neurologic conditions related to music.
