Biography
Flutist Bianca Morris, based in New York, NY, enjoys a varied career as both a performer and a teacher. Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Morris has performed with several ensembles in Philadelphia and the surrounding cities including the Center City Chamber Orchestra, the Opus One: Berks County Chamber Choir Orchestra, and the Curtis Institute Symphony Orchestra.
Morris has received various honors and awards throughout her studies, including the Delaware State Music Teachers Association, Inc. Award (2019); in addition, she was made winner of the Delaware and Pennsylvania state divisions of the MTNA Young Artist Performance Competition consecutively in 2019 and 2020. Morris was also a featured soloist in 2019 at the University of Delaware (UD) as winner of the UD Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition.
During her summers, Morris has participated in prestigious festivals such as the Curtis Summerfest Young Artist Summer Program (2020) and the National Music Festival (2022). She has also participated in masterclasses led by accomplished flutists Erica Peel, Natalie Joachim, Robert Langevin, Edward Schultz, Patricia George, and Nicola Mazzanti. Morris has also regularly performed with various community ensembles in the New York City region such as the Chelsea Symphony, the Brooklyn Symphony, and the Narrows Community Theatre Pit Orchestra.
Morris holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Delaware School of Music where she studied with Eileen Grycky of the Opera Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as a Master of Music degree from the Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University, where she studied with soloist Mimi Stillman.
