Bethany Kean
Biography
I play Saxophone (alto and tenor), flute, and clarinet. I earned my B.M. in Jazz Saxophone Performance from the University of North Texas, and my M.M. in Jazz Arranging from William Paterson. I've played on Cunard's Queen Elizabeth cruise ship as a theatre musician and ballroom musician for 2 years. I recently played woodwinds and auxiliary percussion for Flying Leap's innovative production "The Garden" and also played as a guest saxophone soloist on CBS's Saturday Sessions with Grammy winner Brett McKenzie. I have a new album of original compositions for a nine-piece band called Mx. Kean "Nonet" and an EP of jazz trio music on the way. I am an active force for gender equity in jazz and I am interested in all things teaching, writing, and performing (all genres welcome).
