Athos Maelstrom

Biography

New York-based cellist Athos Maelstrom is a founding member of Boston-based Pierrot ensemble Der Gestanke and New York-based violin and cello duo Indigo. Athos is a passionate advocate for new and experimental music – both in the musical and theatrical worlds - and enjoys playing alongside a wide range of performers and creative minds.

Notably in the past year, Athos appeared solo at the CUNY Graduate Center (performing world premieres), participated in a performance of Mark Adamo's "Lysistrata", and presented graphic scores at the Swiss Institute. In 2024, they will appear again with Der Gestanke in Boston and Baltimore, and hope to participate in numerous other projects as well!
