Biography
Chicago native, BM & MM DePaul University in piano performance with Mary Sauer, pianist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (1959-2016). Annbritt was completing a Doctorate at Northwestern University in Piano Performance and Pedagogy when life took a right turn & she ended up touring/conducting Broadway shows! She was Music Director of 3 National tours (Aspects of Love, Phantom of the Opera - San Francisco Co., Miss Saigon 2nd National) before coming to NYC where she worked closely with Maestro Paul Gemignani & Stephen Sondheim for the next 12 years. Highlight was being Associate MD/pianist for Kristina (Andersson & Ulveaus) @ Carnegie Hall & Royal Albert Hall, as well Sondheim’s Company with the New York Philharmonic. 13 Broadway shows to date.
Last year Annbritt was Music Director for the Broadway revival of Once Upon a Mattress with Sutton Foster, Michael Urie & Ana Gasteyer, as well as MD of Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends, an all-star Sondheim celebration headed by Bernadette Peters and Lea Salonga. Annbritt recently won the 2025 Music Direction Award for Distinguished Achievement in Theatre Arts from the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle for the LA pre-Broadway run of Old Friends.
Ms. duChateau is also Associate Music Supervisor for Aladdin, Frozen, and Beauty & the Beast, helping mount & maintain national & international companies.
Ms. duChateau can be heard on OBC recordings of Frozen, Aladdin, Hunchback of Norte Dame, Into the Woods (rev. Vanessa Williams), Frogs (Nathan Lane), Kristina (Carnegie Hall recording), Sondheim’s Company with the New York Philharmonic (Neil Patrick Harris, Patti LuPone), and conducted the OBC of Once Upon A Mattress.
Annbritt and her husband, Charles duChateau (cellist, pianist, Broadway conductor, educator), are hugely into music education through private lessons & coachings in lower Westchester, NY.
