Anna Shiphrah Han

Biography

Anna S. Han was born in California where she lived until moving to Taiwan when she was 6 years old. She grew up playing the flute, competing in national and international competitions, as well as performing in schools, hospitals and recitals. As a fourth grader, Anna placed second in the regional division of the National Musical Competition of Baroque in Taiwan. She returned to the competition the following year, and placed first in both the regional and national divisions. In 2016, Anna placed second in Taiwan's national Student Cup Music Competition and first in the Asia Pacific International Music Competition. The same year, Anna also performed for patients at the Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Altamonte Springs, Florida. A past member of the Taipei Wind Orchestra & Symphonic Band, Anna performed annually with the group in addition to solo recitals accompanied by her mother, a professional pianist. In middle school, Anna participated in a school production of King and I (First Flute and Piccolo), and in 2018, having received second place in the Rising Star Grand Prix International Competition, Anna was invited to perform at the Winner's Recital at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall.

Anna's love for music extended into the world of musical theatre when she discovered her passion for singing. She competed in the ICRT Radio Competition, reaching top 6 out of 1000 plus contestants. She performed live in the studio, singing On My Own from Les Mis. As a junior at New York University, she has participated in NYU Lamplighter's Eras of Broadway production as a cast member, singing Castle On A Cloud (Les Mis), No One Is Alone (Into The Woods), and When I Grow Up (Matilda.) Anna is a current flutist in the NYU Broadway Orchestra and the NYU Mariachi Band.
