Anna DeNoia

Biography

Anna's songwriting training includes BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, as well as the 2022 Johnny Mercer Songwriter's Project at Northwestern University. Her most recent project, an original musical titled GRACE AND THE GHOST, was a 2023 Eugene O'Neil NMTC semi-finalist and recently made its NYC debut at 54 Below, starring Anna opposite Elizabeth Teeter (Beetlejuice). Her published work includes OPEN, STAY, an original song cycle that has garnered an enthusiastic online following with now nearly one million views under "#openstay" on Tiktok. Anna acted as sole producer of both the show's 2021 Studio Cast Recording, as well as its sold-out live debut at 54 Below. She is also a passionate advocate for arts education with a focus on fostering original new musical theatre, made explicit in the professional licensing of OPEN, STAY. Through Uproar Theatrics, the show can be produced in classic song cycle structure with music alone, as a short musical with an additional 10-character libretto created by Anna, or within an open structure designed for collaborative work. Using the music and lyrics as a skeleton, creative teams are invited to reorder the songs and create a new libretto with original characters, storylines, and dialogue. OPEN, STAY has now been produced by theatre companies, highschools and colleges across the country, with many enthusiastically participating in this “build your own musical” model. Anna is a 2021 graduate of James Madison University and has worked in the offices of many of top theatre companies in her hometown of Chicago, including Lookingglass and Steppenwolf.
