Angela Tipps
Biography
Angela Tipps is in her third decade as an instructor at Middle Tennessee State University's School of Music. She conducts two choirs at MTSU: the Soprano-Alto (SOAL) Chorale and the Tenor-Bass (TEBA) Chorale. Her choirs have performed for state and regional conferences of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). She has also taught basic and choral conducting, organ and voice, and coordinates the music appreciation courses in the general education curriculum. She is the Musical Director of the Middle Tennessee Choral Society, a 75-voice SATB community chorus that performs major works with orchestra.
Angela has served as Musical Director and/or Conductor of the following shows at MTSU: Cinderella, Sweeney Todd, Cabaret, Fun Home, and Spring Awakening. As an actor in community theatre, she has portrayed Sister Mary Hubert in Nunsense, Roz in 9 to 5, and Prudy Pingleton in Hairspray. Her oldest, Virginia, will receive an MFA in stage/production management at Carnegie-Mellon in May, having completed their BS in theatre at MTSU.
